Employee Engagement doesn’t work…
This will be short and sweet: If your employees are disengaged, you’re not going to turn things around through an employee engagement programme.
And you’re certainly not going to fix it by asking HR to take responsibility for it.
Because real engagement thrives between people. You and me.
EE programmes intrinsically treat people as a human resource, asset or capital. They miss the fundamental point and will usually exacerbate the problem.
So if your people are disengaged, you are part of the issue. Ask yourself what your engagement is like, how you engage with your colleagues and how you help them engage with you.
Use your organisation like a mirror – what you see may be what you are.
